Milagros!

October 20, 2014

So many good things have happened this week and I write today with a grateful heart. Monday night we had a family home evening at a member's home with Godelive and her 3 girls. We taught the Plan of Salvation again and at the end Godelive said something to her daughter who translated to us that she wants to be baptized! The girls are still deciding but as they've prayed about it they've felt good so far. the two older boys aren't usually around so it's harder to teach them but I know they will oneday all follow their mother's strong example. As usual, some trials have come since that day. Yesterday at church the girls weren't there and Godelive didn't look very happy. We asked her what was going on and she said she lost her and her three girls' important documents on the bus the night before. It included their social security cards, medicare, and other confidential things. She didn't sleep at all and sent her girls to search at the bus station so she could come to church. PLEASE keep her in your prayers, she needs it! It was hard to sit through sacrament meeting knowing the pain that Godelive was in- she is so scared right now. I think I learned what the true meaning of mourning with those that mourn that it talks about in Mosiah 18- it's physically and emotionally draining but made me feel all the more dependent on God.

Friday was Sister Johnson's bday and we got to watch Meet the Mormons! Inspiring movie. I hope it made it to theaters in Ohio so everyone can see it! Take all your friends and family! Mission birthdays are fun and we have the best apartment. I love Sister Tranchina and Shields:)

Rose Park is famous for cancellations and we've experienced a lot of that this week, but we also found 2 new families to teach! One is from RosePark and the other from Sudan. Luckily they speak English really well, but I can also practice the little arabic I know with them:)

Right now we are reading the Book of Mormon with a focus on Christ and Christ-like attributes. It is strengthening my testimony of the reality of the Savior so much. I know that if we don't have a testimony of the scriptures, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, we won't make it in these last days. 2 Nephi 11:6-7 is my favorite verse I've discovered this week. It is the most fulfilling work in the world to tire ourselves out in spreading the word of God and proving unto these people that there is a Christ and He will come again!
