Babies make better missionaries

March 30, 2015

Am I right? We took Catherine out with us while she was baby sitting her cousin's baby this week and I am certain if we would have run into more people it would have been a perfect tool for finding... who can tell the missionaries to go away when they have a cute baby with them?

A lot of things made us laugh this week. We took Arturo to temple square for a lesson on thursday and asked him if he had seen the movie "Meet the Mormons" A bit confused he looked at us and said "I feel like I've already met them." We showed him the model of the temple and a powerful video called God's Plan for Families that makes most people cry. But not Arturo! We got to the last room (it's kind of interactive where you move room to room) and when it ended asked him what he thought. His response: "I did NOT like that. the music is super sad and the grandpa DIED! Can you please explain the purpose of this to me?" When we went in to teaching him about eternal families and temple marriage, he seemed more calm and peaceful. Yesterday he came to church all by himself for the first time and after a very spiritual testimony meeting his face looked humbled and his whole countenance was different. I asked him how he felt and he said he had never felt like that before. I was grateful to be able to tell him that I knew he was feeling the spirit of the Lord not only because I was feeling it as well but because I had felt it many times before. The holy ghost has an undeniable presence when so many people are focused on feeling it and bearing witness of truth.

We started working with another guy named Andy who just found a place to live and came out here from Oregon. He wants to be baptized on April 11th and s just eating it all up (not literally). He has a strong desire to learn and to grow spiritually; he also recognizes that baptism is just a first step in all of this.

Thursday night we had a stake recent convert dinner and took a lot of people that we're teaching. Spencer was there and Katja and a recent recent convert named Evelyn. Katja and Evelyn spoke and it was amazing to hear how the Lord truly led them to this gospel. Katja is a girl I taught one lesson to before I left this area with Sister Tranchina and she is on fire. She wants to share the gospel with her family and friends despite how shy she is. She wanted to go to Switzerland after high school (she's from guatemala) and the last place she wanted to come was here  because she was afraid of going to a mormon school. As chance would have it, coming here was the only thing that worked out and she is so grateful for that. This gospel is true! Never take it for granted:)

D&C 121:33 Nothing can stop the work of salvation from moving forward:)
