This week has been crazy and full of a lot of running around looking for Andy on temple square where we did all of our lessons with him and his friend Daniel. They would always be too early or too late and we met them every single day so we ended up having to search a lot. Alas, things ended with Andy's learning process for now. Though we did our best to warn him that Satan works his hardest on people the week before their baptism, he let the world grab him back and got a bus ticket to vegas. WHY DO WE HAVE TO BE SO CLOSE TO VEGAS?! Though at the beginning of my mission I would have been heart broken and devastated, I have to respect his agency and I also trust the Lord more now. As it says in 2 Nephi 2, all things have been done in His wisdom, and he is the creator of all things.
On a more positive note, we followed an impression a couple of nights ago to go visit someone I used to teach when I was in this area and it led us to meet the kindest sweetest Indian man named Channa. He moved here from India about a year ago and has been looking for people to go to church with. He is Hindu so it will be a good chance to study and relearn how to teach someone who believes in multiple Gods and help them gain a belief and faith in the true Godhead. It is the best feeling to go to a place not knowing exactly why you're going there and then to leave knowing you fulfilled the purpose the Lord wanted you to in that moment.
So onto conference... it was amazing as usual! What better way to spend easter weekend than hearing living prophets and apostles speak and testify about the Savior and how we can more closely follow him? There is no better way. And He is the way. If you haven't watched the church's new easter video "Because He Lives" yet, I highly recommend it. I know the Savior lives and that his coming is sooner than we think. The best way to prepare for that is through living the gospel, making and keeping covenants with God and following the spirit in all we do. I was also blessed to run into multiple cousins and friends at the conference center- it was a weird slap in the face that life goes on outside of my mission world bubble. I am grateful for this time I have to focus solely on the Lord and his work. Having no distractions of family and friends is a true blessing.
One last highlight of this week was throwing a birthday party with Devin, a recent convert we are still teaching. He is the purest soul I've ever met but struggles socially. The ward thought it would be exciting to throw him a surprise party and I'm pretty sure no one has ever done anything that nice for him in his life- he was SO happy! It just feels good to make people smile:)
Love,
Sister Pearson
